About EmbrAACe SP…
I’m Peta Booth, a Speech Pathologist with a special interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I am based in the Brisbane Bayside / Redlands region and provide mobile speech pathology services. I enjoy working with individuals who are unable to meet all of their communication needs using speech alone and their teams, to explore and obtain communication systems, and work towards establishing autonomous communication.
I have extensive experience with various high and low tech AAC systems, as well as assessing and supporting use of alternative access methods, including switching and eye gaze. I embrace working with other stakeholders, including Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists and Educators, to identify the most effective communication system.
In addition to over 10 years in clinical practice, I am committed to continually learning. I am trained in several techniques and approaches, including:
- Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) communication systems – Introductory, and Alternative Access
- Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP)
- Talking Mats
- Key Word Sign
- Hanen It Takes Two to Talk
- PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets)
- Tech Talkers Program
- SCERTS (Social Communication Environmental Regulation and Transactional Supports)
I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!
